Wrinkles proved himselfa most outstanding sire, producing numerous Champions. His immediate progeny and indeed all his decendants are easily recognizable, inheriting great quality, flashy colouring and markings, much style and showmanship, as well as other desirable attributes. Notes by Mrs. Patricia Sutton: "Today I will look at the last of the imports from the late 50's that was a real influence in improving the breed. Mrs Gladys Clayton and her very successful Barvae kennel had produced many Champions in the 50's the most well known was Ch. Barvae Statute owned and shown by Mr F. Watson. Followed by Ch. Barvae Paigan these two produced a raft of champions for other breeders when used on their bitches. Mrs Clayton looked to Canada for her import and brought over Barvae Benroe Wrinkles, a son of the famous Can. & Am Ch Thornridge Wrinkles, sire of over 90 Northern American Champions. He immediately made an impact as a sire, and over time produced many Champions." Further comments: David Craig: "Looking at the photograph, I'm always struck by what a handsome hound he is. Radley Triumph of Appeline '47 Sire: Springfield Traitor Dam: Eton College Wisdom From "Beagles and Beagling" by Douglas and Carol Appleton: This is a lemon pied hound. The photograph was taken when he was showing the first signs of dropsy at twelve years of age. It is used to illustrate how a quality hound never coarsens with age. Triumph bred by the Radley College Beagles who did not keep dog hounds, went to the Warwickshire Beagles - Master, Courtney Williams, MH, - who won with him the champion cup at Peterborough and Honitorn. Handled by Billy Norman and purchased by the author at the auction of the Warwickshire Beagles when he was over six years of age, he is the only hound ever to have won the highest honours at British hound shows and then go on to his Kennel Club Championship. Though not appreciated by possibly less experienced breeders throughout many countries of the world his influence on present day hounds is still immense. An interesting story is that having been left out after hunting one night, Triumph was found in the morning stiff and sore. Bathed and taken to London the excitement which the show ring always had for him enabled him to pull himself together and win the challenge certificate under Charles Hardwick, MH.
