Comments by Patricia Sutton:
"This is a photo of one of the very first shows of the Beagle Association held at the Hawley Hotel, Blackwater, Camberley. It is the Beagle Association Championship Show in 1965. Mrs Clayton was the judge. Winning the DCC and BIS was Ch Letton Americano, RDCC was Wendover Bounty with Mr L C James, BCC was Thelma Gray with Rozavel Crystal Gift and RBCC was Mrs Sutton's Ch Rossut Colinbar Phantom. Crystal Gift and Bounty did not title. So, left is RBCC, then BCC, DCC and BIS and RDCC.
The people are left to right, Catherine Sutton, Thelma Grey (Rozavel), Mrs Gladys Clayton (Barvae) Joan Beck (Letton), Madge Oppenshaw (Bodigga), secretary of club L.C James
(Wendover). Mother is showing Ch Rossut Colinbar Phantom who was the dam of Ch Rossut Foreman. In the early 1950's there were very few beagles registered at the KC and few CC's available at this time. The breed needed new blood and many of the top breeders looked to the USA and Canada for their imports. Thelma Gray, Joan Beck, Patsy Hewan, Douglas Appleton looking Stateside for theirs and Gladys Clayton going to Canada."
