Comments from "Beagles and Beagling" by Douglas and Carol Appleton:
"This hound bred by Mrs. M. Sedgley (now in Australia) typifies what can be obtained when blending the best of British and American blood. The short thick stern set on very high, level topline and strong quarters show the ideal. The forehand shows the great depth of body and spring of rib. The photograph shows the hound a shade short in lip. It must be appreciated that the picture was taken by Thomas Fall (Miss Bourne) when the hound was rising seven. The colour is again the full black blanketed tri-colour. For the record book, Replica was a pig to show. The type is one that coarsens around the neck and shoulder with age."
